ALEXA Mini and AMIRA users can now purchase a licence to enable CODEX High Density Encoding (HDE) technology through Device Manager for their ARRIRAW workflows.
Any CFast 2.0 card reader can be used, including models with dual card slots and Thunderbolt connections, for maximum workflow efficiency.
ARRIRAW file sizes are reduced on average by around 40% with HDE applied, thereby massively reducing storage and budget requirements.
HDE workflows through Device Manager are available on macOS only and require the use of a compatible copy tool such as Hedge, Offload Manager, Silverstack, Shotput Pro, or YoYotta. Full details can be found in the FAQ section of the HDE page.
Licenses begin on the day of purchase, and can be transferred between computers.
Note: A licence is not required for Device Manager or HDE when using a Codex branded media reader. HDE is applied during the offload process and performance is governed by available CPU resources. For good performance we recommend using a MacBook Pro or Mac Mini from 2018 or later as a minimum specification.
